Years of walking through my forest wilderness,
A wilderness of pain,
Then, a light in the canopy shadows,
A light of hope again.

It was you, who struggled through my jungle,
You who cleared a path for me,
You - precious sun in the rainforest,
You who reminded me of what I could be.

And like the sheltered fern,
I opened towards your light,
I gained strength and blossomed,
I regained my will to fight.

Now I'm so much stronger,
Only need look for my sunlight once in a while,
And with my memories of you,
I undoubtedly smile.

In my forest wilderness,
I found my light and love,
And each day I shall give thanks,
For that warming gift sent from above.

Some wish they had never escaped that forest of misery.  For even misery is preferred to oblivion.

Forest can be beautiful, but a cage is a cage.  No matter from what the bars are made.  Nice analogy Isis.

Big Hooray for finding your light, Isis...
I should not be replying to poems tonight, I seem to be air-headed!

Ok...seriously now.  Your words are filled with such feeling, they come through very clearly in this poem. AND, the forest analogy is crystal clear.  YOu did an excellent job of portraying it.

Don't care what people say
Just follow your own way
Don't give up and use the chance
To return to innocence.
