It has come to my attention recently and with the help of a few emails from people, that the feeling of 'family and friends' here in Dark is lessening a bit.  I see it too.
So, I wish to re-establish our guidelines and remind people of what the dark forum is about...
Reminder being the operative word here not anger..
1.  When we have a new member post their first piece we should ALL make an effort to welcome them, and encourage them, by responding to the post.  We ourselves were welcomed the same way!
2.  Language, asterisks instead of language, and thoughts on suicide that may inadvertantly condone or even glorify suicide are a no no.  We are poets, we can get our point of desolation across without saying 'I want to end it all!' etc.  We must remember that anyone of any age can access the dark forum and we wouldn't want a young teenager misconstruing something we've said about suicide and thinking it the answer for their misery.
3.  Try to answer a few posts by writers we don't know, it is saddening to look down the post list and see so many zero responses, that never happened in here a while ago.
4.  I apologise for my lack of time around DP lately myself, I have been ill, and Dylan has been sick on and off virtually for three months.  I have missed welcoming many new members and for that I feel sad, they all deserve a great welcoming...
So please guys I'm not the only one who has noticed the drop of morale here in dark lately, so please, let's all join together and make an effort for a while, and have Dark feeling as it used to...
Thanks
Isis

~Isis,...I am not sure that I can write a proper response to this right now as I am heading out the door for the night, but I just wanted you to know that I read it and completely agree with you. I have always and will continue to read and reply to others work,...but do have to admit that it seemed to get a bit overwhelming with so many new people at once. I honestly found it difficult to keep on top of them all. I try and that's all I can do. I truly would like to see this place get back on it's feet with the warmth it at one time was booming with. I thank you for the announcement and truly hope that we can all build it back up to a forum that flows with caring and understanding and support at times,...etc. I began in Dark when I joined Passions and have always considered it my 'home' here. I have recently been bopping around to other rooms and find it nice to meet new people there too. Anyhow,...I have to head out and just wanted to let you know that I heard and understood your message. Please take care of yourself and  your little Dylan. *Peace.

Thanks Spitfire!!  I'm not mad or hurt at anyone, I understand how busy we are, or ill or whatever, believe me!!  It's just I've had a few emails of people saying the same thing, it doesn't feel like home, we don't seem as caring and thoughtful of one another in here etc.
I am merely reminding us all of what dark is about, and why it HAS become HOME to so many of us, and that we all want it to remain that way.
Just a little reminder is all..  I am merely the voice asked to remind everyone.....
Please no one take this the wrong way ok?
I myself have been absent heaps with Dylan and myself being ill etc....

Same from me, Isis. I have also felt the need to roam a bit lately, partly from the feeling you mentioned. Partly from getting too depressed reading so much suicide talk. So good for you for reminding us all, and though I try to go in and look back and find people that have only 1 or 2 notes, I know I miss a lot too. Take care.

Thanks Isis    We all need a kick in the butt now and again!    I remember not too long ago this was like a friendly chat room.  I loved it!!  Let's get busy and make it that way again!

Many poets here must think suicide is the answer, its damn depressing.  The need for oblivion is ever present in this forum.  But than again, it is called “Dark Passions” is it not?  Telling a poet he/she cannot write about something (well, at least post it) is the equal to shooting them in the foot.  Though I recognize the reality of your concern, I do not believe that this will solve anything.  Example.  What’s the real difference if I say:

This life is real bad,
Its driving me mad,
Like someone’s joyride,
I think I’ll commit suicide.

Or, if I hid it in symbolism:

Screams torment my soul,
Nothing can move me from this hole,
To survive, I become the hole,
Empty and free.

The idea is there, plain and simple (alright, the last one is awful, I know, but you get the point.).  Whether it’s blunt or contrived in symbols.   Suicide is NOT the answer, anyone who lost a loved one to it can tell you that.  I’m sorry, but I don’t have the answer to this problem, but I can tell you this is no solution.

Thanks CatalinaMoon and Dark Kisses,
Deranger, these are Ron's forums so we must all follow his guidelines.  If you have any ideas to help this problem, we would sure be interested in hearing them??
All I/we can say is, to change the text as you demonstrated or we must delete the piece.
It is the same with the swearing, not really necessary.
I am not laying down the law, simply reminding all of Ron's guidelines, and hopefully the feeling of home and friends we had established here in dark will return..

I guess the feeling of home is where the heart is kid,
some people forget that a dark passion can run into love also,
not just the pain of it all, and yes I’m a good one to talk with all my howling of loneliness, in the last days of my Dove’s flight, I’ll start posting soon, again and try my best to help with the family, it has been to long.
love you kid.

I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel.
