Looking beyond the typical fantasy,
I see myself painted in so many colors,
Stretched across the wall
Within my eyes I hold your hand,
encouraging and demanding
that you leave your mark
upon my deepening soul
My flesh listening for your words,
Laughing and spinning
the colors pick away
at those simple things left alone
That would have been well
but no, this game grows tiring
Gluing CD's to my skin,
trying to make it all
mine and only mine, so selfishly
I crave your praise of authenticity
and I want you to love to hate me,
So when I'm human
You'll take it upon yourself
to judge and punish me -
Feeling free to try and cover all my scars
with falsehoods and shiny glitter
Feeling free to claim to have saved me,
but I think you're just as lost
as the girl that lives inside of me
So I welcome you to come and find yourself
in the wings of my spirit
Then when your shadow
doesn't dominate over you,
I'll build it again so that you can begin
Revealing yourself confidently
through the voices of my room
and your own

I wish you could hear
the child that cries
in my flesh and makes
my bones ache

WOW. I am honestly at a loss for words. I know the feeling, though. Trying to identify our lost inner beings. AWESOME. So very well captured, dark. I loved it. It reminds me of a song...
Hide little girl, hide little girl beneath your mama's skirt. Hide little girl, hide little girl, and maybe it won't hurt. Hide from the laughter, what if it's at you. Hide from the sorrow, so no one has a clue. Hide little girl hide little girl, beneath the smile you've learned. Hide behind the mascarade of credits that you've earned. Hide in crowded corridors until the school day ends, hide in courts of favor, but never trust a friend. Hide little girl, hide little girl, behind your wedding veil. Eyes that cannot cry are eyes that tattle tale. Hide little girl, hide little girl, until your time runs out. You can't always hide, one day you'll be found out.
Wonderful work, Dark! ((HUGS))

Wow! I felt this down to my toes. Great work. I feel it as you speaking to a man, am I wrong?

Thank you all very, very much and yes cat I was speaking this to a man. He knows who he is...that is if he gets around to reading it. Thanks again!

Angel,
but I think you're just as lost
as the girl that lives inside of me

your poetry touched a chord that left me quivering. Excellent poem.

Be well

Such wonderful imagery here and through out...this is wonderfully written and so very well expressed...Love it!
