This  was written by an inmate.  His thoughts of his life having to serve many years there for his mistakes he made.

Of all the things I think of
Love is the furthest from my mind
My hate floats deep in nowhere
Gathering at the edge of peace and time
Lonely days are filled with nothin
Wasteful night are consumed in rage
While sitting here mad and writing this poem
I think of tearing up this page
I use to write love songs
At the stroke of a pen or two
Now I'm writing hate mail
To those that will listen, thats you
Being in this prison
Is hard on my heart you see
By the time I'm through with this sentence
I dont think I'll be the same me
I try to think of my family
And tears start to well in my eyes
My life's on the verge of collapsing
With no time to say my good-byes
My best new friends are concrete and steel
They speak no words and have no will
Look at me with their concerned eyes
Welcoming homes to spiders and flys
All this is truth, it's all that I know
Stuck in this cell with no place to go
I struggle in heart and fight in vain
To release this hurt and subdue this pain
A thousand questions with no answers to give
My breathe goes on and still I live
To share my life and show you my ways
To open the door and show you the maze
I can't find the end and where did i start
Slowly and surely this pain tears me apart
What can I say, what can I do
To relay this messae from me to you
Don't hate yourself, like I always have
It will destroy your life and wreck your paths
Trust my words , I'll tell you no lies
Your last dirt road you'll soon despise

~Joshua~

Some of the best art and words come from inmates...beleive me, I have seen much of both! There is word of caution when it comes to those...
"bars make a man speak beautiful words,
but as soon as free air hits their faces
the words are forgotten deep within the stone walls mases..."
I know from experience those words to be true...and hopefully so do you.

"There is an alter ego which
dwells in every soul..."

I am tears of pain, tears of Death.

Ohhhhhh I totally disagree with ya.  Not all men in prison are "bad" men.  Yes some have done some horrible crimes, yet others just made a mistake.  I believe everybody needs and deserves a chance to try "again."  I work as  CO in an all male prison.  I have seen some of the worst and some "good" men. Most might be surprised BUT over 3/4 of the men there have total respect and good manners.  I use to think that men in prison were just "horrible" creatures.  Then once I started working with them on a daily basis, I seen a new light.  Never judge someone until you walk in their shoes.
I understand everyone has their own point of view ........ and this is mine    No harm meant.

Peace
DkW

Sorry, but the forums are reserved for Member posted poetry/prose. I'm going to lock this one as it was written by someone other than the poster.

Dark Kisses, I understand your wanting to share this poem with everyone here in Dark, it is indeed a timely reminder to us all, we have a life, we are free, and we should do all possible to make the most of it, to make it better, not ruin it.
BUT, the problem is Ron feels posting poems such as this without copyright etc, is a risk he is unwilling to take.  There are many avenues this could go, did he really write this?  Is it someone else's work etc.  All those questions lead Ron and Passions to take the safest avenue simply not risking a possible problem.  And as the thread is closed people can still read it, and benefit from it, but it simply cannot be commented upon.
SO the lesson here is, it's safer not to post these sort of questionable copyright issues.
I know you will understand, also I'll send an email..
