The sun beats down Upon my body,
As I walk the way Less travelled.
All around is darkness where
There is sunshine.

The wind whispers a thousand
Memories into my ear.
Voices of things long gone,
Sounds from other worlds now so distant.

Looking behind me, I can still faintly
Hear the voices of the confused and the
Dazed, as they enter into a limbo
Between comfort and "Hell".
Their shapes and forms are blurred by
The awful heat of the sun.

Never in all my wildest dreams,
Did I see this as being what
would greet my eyes upon
Reaching this place.

The sounds continue.
I hear the friends, the enemies, and the
Unkept Promises.

But still, I continue onward,
Toward distant dreams, and distant Glory.
All this reachable only by this
Single, lonely Desert Road.

Doesn't sound like the place met your expectations at all. Still good poem out of it.
Be well

but it is the loss that shapes the image,
gathers the flowers weaves the garland."-
