Temple Prayer

A chance encounter like none before,
broke the boredom of the winter's gloom.
In you wandered, not trusting and insecure
looking for nothing more than a friend.
Our first nights together were tense and curt
you had your guard up , not giving in.
As the nights went on a friendship grew,
a bond solid and true bringing us close.
And out of that friendship a spark was ignited,
lighting a fire that should've never grown.
The flames were fanned without regrets,
and a Temple we built to honor our feelings.
Love, the fire, now raged uncontrolable,
both of us lost in it's time and space.
Then a line we crossed guilty at first,
at a point from which there was no turning back.
But now you're gone, just pulled from my heart,
where once was light only shadows now remain.
I've done my part in healing your heart,
but like all things feelings sometimes change.
So now I sit in our Temple alone,
and wait for the day till you return.
A love I've lost like none before,
not lost but paused for I know it still remains.
And some day soon when all seems lost
I know I'll hear that familiar ping.
And there you'll be, my only love,
bringing the light back into my void.
For even though we can never be one,
there are things in life that can't be denied.
I know someday we'll bond our love,
for every slave needs his Goddess to pray to at night.
