When I'm hurt, lonely, sad
I get depressed, sometimes mad.
Cutting myself, it's what I do,
It's something old, nothing new.

"The inside hurts."  That's what I say,
Now so does the outside, day to day.
I know it sounds funny, but do you know?
How great if feels to see that flow?

If you've never done it, you can't say "STOP!"
'Cause if I could, the razor I'd drop.
One day I'm happy, very bright,
But the next I'm on that downward flight.

On happy days I say, "No way, I'm done!"
But when trouble hits, there goes my fun.
I've made scars; they're there to stay,
Yet I've healed myself in my own little way.

p.s.  To all of you who are concerned, thanks for the thoughts, but this poem is old and I just wanted to share it...this is a growing problem...Thanks....

Love Always,
Nicole

I relate to this all too well. I loved the line, "The inside hurts". It does, and you (I) let it bleed out. Take emotional pain and convert it to one that is more bearable, and for so many of us, it's physical. Somewhere there's healing, we just need to find it.......
I just wanted to say I REALLY loved this piece. Keep up the good work.

Never give your heart away, it will always come back broken.

i know this too well...yet it never hurts on the outside for me...no pain in the blade anymore

If you've never done it, you can't say "STOP!"

exactly my point!

its like tell an alcoholic to stop drinking cold turkey...

Yep, I agree cutting's becoming a big problem and it does bring relief however temporary that may be.
Be well

I've never cut myself but I know the feelings of up one day and down the next. And how when you are happy you think you can overcome and be better when you get down, but when you're actualy down you do the same things, whether it be cutting, or berating yourself, (what I do) etc.

Old time is still a-flying,
And this same flower that smiles today
To-morrow will be dying.
