The years have gone now
How they flew by
Yet still I miss you
Why did you have to die?

It is funny now
I miss the little things the most
Being belted by your slipper
Or the letter in the post

Each time today passes
I will always have a cry
Only because today is the day
I should have said goodbye

I guess through grief and selfishness
That is something I forgot to do
But with you being my greatest love
How could I say goodbye to you??

Slowly memories are fading away
But the pain is still the same
If only I could wake up from this dream
And have you back again.

Beautifully written poem, but so sad.  Reminds me of how I felt losing my best friend and how I still feel now on his anniversary.  You expressed the sadness and longing very well....thanks.

Catilinamoon - This poem was actually written about my grandfather whom was the heart and soul of my life at that stage. There will never be another that can replace the bond between he and I.

Nicolette - The loss of a friend or a family member alwasy bears a great deal of sadness. I am just pleased that 5 years on I can finally express that

Kristy this is nice, but sad. It made me think of my dad, who died three years ago come August 13th.   Keep smiling and keep up the good work .
