So strange a meeting,
But from that day on,
He'd stolen Brianna's heart,
And filled her world with song.

She had run away,
Left her cruel Lord,
She was only a plaything to him,
Her existance there quite absurd.

She set off on foot,
With all too few possessions,
Walking towards a better future,
A world without perversions.

These old shoes not meant for walking,
Her blisters so bad she was feverish,
But press on she must,
For Jacob's anger would be fury pitched.

She'd rest at the stream up ahead,
Only a few more steps,
Then the forest started spinning,
And Brianna collapsed from the journey's stress.

She awoke in a lovely courtyard,
Cushioned on a heathery bough,
With the most handsome man she'd even seen,
Wiping her fevered brow.

'I don't know what you are running from,' he said,
'And I don't want to know.'
'Just know that you are welcomed here,'
'Until if and when ye decide to go!.

Brianna struggled upright,
She didn't want to trust another man,
Yet something about him seemed different,
He seemed to care and understand.

'My name is Connor,' he said,
'And your name my bonny lass?'
'It's Brianna,' she shyly replied,
As she struggled to stand on the grass.

Hmmm...is there going to be a continuation of this lovely epic my bonny friend?

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shodows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face...
