Don't cry on my shoulder
don't weep in my ear
although I might listen
you've nothing I'll hear.

Don't wait for the sunrise
just get up and go
if you leave quietly
then I won't know.

Don't leave like a thief
but hurry away.
it brings me relief
that you've gone today.

Don't cry on my shoulder
don't break my heart more
my soul is so damaged
I won't live if it's tore.

If you are going, don't talk
simply go.
I'd rather you walk
than grieve my heart so.

Run to the arms of another
it's what you will do
but don't cry on my shoulder
to courage renew.

Don't say that it's over
I don't want to know
if you've found another
then you'd better go.

Don't cry on my shoulder
don't weep at my door
saying your love
will last evermore.

Don't cry on my shoulder
don't give me that lie
just leave very quickly
and Kiss me goodbye.

ive lived this poem! very well said and written....it hurts but sometimes we feel its better to push people away before they cause any (or more) damage...liked this!

whatcha doing in this darkness baby
when you know love will set you free?
will you stay in the sea forever
Drowning there for all eternity? ~Live

Oh, ouch, you can feel the hurt. And I know that the writer is not really wanting him to go, just practicing self defense. Awesome poem, glad I found it.

I enjoyed the pace of this piece. It helped to draw out the emotion of the reader. I could feel each stanza as I read. Well done.

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shodows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face...
