I watch you softly sleeping
And I envy the moon as it plays across your placid form.
I wish I were the moon, so I could touch you in the night.

I see you roll across the lawn
And I envy the grass as it is caressed by your laughing self
I wish I were the grass, so you would lay on me and laugh.

I watch you jump into the air
And I envy the wind as it catches your spiraling body.
I wish I were the wind, so you would hold out your arms to receive me.

I see you warming your hands
And I envy the warmth that brings a glow to your cheeks
I wish I were the fire, bringing you comfort and warmth.

I watch you dancing in the night
And I envy the stars as they shine gently down upon your lovely face
I wish I were starlight, so you would never walk in darkness.

I see you swimming in the creek
And I envy the water as it swirls gently around your kicking feet.
I wish I were the water, so I could surround you and lift you up.

I watch as you move through life
I envy those people who you will touch and be touched by
I wait for you to return to me for comfort and enduring love.

this is very nice......
"i watch you dancing in the night
and i envy the stars that shine gently down upon your lovely face
i wish i were starlight, so you would never walk in darkness"

you shine light into their life with these words....with a love like that..neither of you will walk in darkness...

beautiful work

Lynne...Very, very well done.  Excellent piece!

Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility.

Just a sec, let me catch my breath…

That was, sheer genius…um, that’s all I can say.
