In darkness
There are shadows.
To have shadows
There must also
be light.

Do I hide in the darkness
consumed by the shadows,
or do I reach for the promise
given by the light?

Tough choice sometimes, isn't it. Shadows are safer sometimes. But go for the light, if only to see what happens. It might even be good

I agree with Cat. Aim high, it is better to fly briefly and fall than to remain on the ground looking up to the sky. enjoyed the poem.

I think that the light is all we can hold to....if we hide from it ,it may not come our way again.

I think I'll stick to the shadows. That way no one can see what I'm up to! Mwahaha! (maniacal laughter ensues)< !signature-->

I agree with everyone except Ian, go for the light, it's better to soar for a while than to crawl through the gutter.

Thanks everyone, for all the support you give!...Vey funny Ian...I can just see You in a dark, shadow-cast alley...with dark cape swirling, and hat cocked to conceal the demonic red gleam in Your eyes!

i enjoyed the poem....then as i read through the replies i guess i got a bit of counseling along the way! hahah..yes, do reach for the light, but dont leave the safety of the shadows until you are ready.

will you stay in the sea forever

~Sash,...definately reach,...and give it your all.  Aaah,...perhaps you could grab hold of me and pull me that way too. Great poem. Take care. *Peace.

Sash, I think I've missed some of your work here at DP, I'll have to watch more carefully..This was a well made point, and a really great poem. Short and speaks volumes!!! I say go for the light too! Hope to see more from you!!

Wow, Sash, you must be watching me. You described my normal Saturday night in such detail. Just kidding (of course). I really do agree with the other replies. In matters of the heart and the spirit, reach for the light. It's too easy to get lost otherwise.
