The Shores of Alone

The last time I saw you,
I didn't know.
I would have kissed you harder,
held you tighter,
loved you longer,
told you more
(so much more)
if I had known
it was the
last time...

This so perfectly speaks of regret...something to be said I guess for seizing the moment.  Great poem!

This is a very good poem.  It really packs a considerable wallop!  There's always things we never finish in life, or that we should have done.  It's hard to move on from that.

~Cat,...for some strange reason, this poem of yours has caused tears. Oy!!! How many nights I have cried to these very words of yours....*sigh*, the loss of two young friends made me really realize that I want everyone to know just how much I love them at every moment....god forbid, just in case. I'm sorry to ramble like this but your poem has hit me right in the heart. *sigh*. Whew,...I'll be on the porch for a few,...thinking of you. Please take care. *Peace.

Cat...this is beautiful!  How sad that the most important lessons to learn, can only be learned the hard way.  Having lost friends, I try very hard to let others know how important they are to me.  Great job.  Linda

Oh yes. Perhaps we should always remember that this could be the last time and give our all. (Like in that song "Besa me mucho")
Short and snappy.
Excellent!

Taking life for granted is a human disease.  Life is a conundrum, you can either live it to its fullest, and risk the end hastened, or live conservatively and never know what life really has to offer.
Moral is, this disease is contagious, we’ve all regretted not making that final kiss last just a little longer.  I say this not to downplay your situation, but to console you in the fact that you’re not alone.
I’m sorry you have been put through this, but we’re all here for you…that, after all is the whole point of this online mausoleum.

Ray Bradbury wrote in 'Something Wicked This Way Comes':
'When the end is close and staring at you, it's not the things you did you regret, but the things you didn't do'
You say this more beautifully. Nice work.

Cat...So much said in so little space. Who knew?  Such is life...such is love.  I can relate this to a thousand events in my life.  Very well done.  Hardrock

Cat,
this made sigh and I'll have to read it again later.
I agree it's the things we don't do that cause regret but who can know what tomorrow briengs.
Be well

Dear Sandra

Once again, remarkable work in so few words.  I really know what you mean.
