Standing amongst dead,
Last man standing.
Where many had bled;
His life goes dripping;
Shoulder
To arm
Across the hand,
Pausing,
Before leaving the fingertips;
A final touch before joining the land,
Soaked in the life of many.
Walking amongst Dead,
Barely he’s moving
Across the ground stained red;
Now stumbling
To climb the hill, as a act of Will,
Power in conquest, now to rest
Beside the Standard waving
With the breeze, on the breeze
Carrion birds,
Descending.
