one LONELY day

Reaching for someone
that doesn't reach back.
Wanting to Love them
and they won't Love back.
They seem to be totally unaware
how desperately I need them to say
I want you and I need you
will you please stay.
That moment never arrives
instead they nonchalantly turn away.

My heart thinks
perhaps they desire a chase.
The faster she runs
the more I can quicken the pace.
I hope with all my heart to win
but realize destiny controls this race
and now I must stop and deal
with rejections looming ugly face.

Left to feel
the same ole pain once again
I hate the way one LONELY day
leads into where the next one begins.

James, I know exactly how this feels. Hurts a lot. Nice poem with great expression.

I think with poems such as this it's enough to read it...and feel...and not reply

This is so sad I can feel your sadness and your fears, very much told of your heart of this you gave a part to another. We all know and can relate with this. Hope things get better soon.

James...I think the key is in being yourself, living your life and just enjoying the people around you. Accept an invitation and enjoy the company...or extend an invitation and just enjoy the moment. If someone enjoys sharing their time with you, they will return. As a friend or a lover..which ever it progresses. Feel, live, enjoy and what you are looking for will find you in the end.

(Atleast I hope so anyway...lol...I am trying this approach   )

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shodows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face...

A wonderfully sad poem. Very well done. And (((hugs))) if that's how you feel now.   < !signature-->

James my friend, this is so sad hon, I tend to agree with Marilyn, you have to get out there again, not live in the void you are in now...  By a pet if you don't have one - then you are not quite so alone, and always remember you can still email a certain aussie lady.. *hugs*

Thank you Rosebud, Marilyn, lotharingia, Kethry, Deborah and Isis for the wonderful responses.
Marilyn perhaps you and I have experienced similar experiences.  I love the final comment "at least I hope so"..Yes I hope so also.
Isis I assure you that I am out there circulating..sometimes with success...my days are mixed between wonderful and lonely.
This is a reflection on the past ten years for me and sometimes I have moments when I feel like I am trapped in a web and I must escape.
Everything is alright.
I have always felt most comfortable and secure within a companion relationship...I am still searching for her...James

James... I suspected for a minute that you could be my friend, the one I dedicated my last poem to... When I read it I was amazed, it was exactly what he told me...
Maybe someday you'll realise that you don't need this too. I hope you will.

Oh, the bitter-sweet reminder of how much I love your poetry. I was absent for awhile, but your work makes me glad I returned. I hate this feeling that you have captured so well. I hope that things get better for you, I honestly do. Keep it up!

Never give your heart away, it will always come back broken.
