It seems like we have a theme of net relationships in poetry going. So here's my contribution and it's not pretty.

Lonely people cruise the net to find their fantasy
Instead the get advertisements that breach serenity
Lonely people search the net to link romantically
instead they find  the kooks and porn and weird philosophy

Lonely people night after night send signals near and far
Hoping for the unicorn or the wishing star,
instead they find no peace of mind, no wonder from afar
But neighboring hospitality, from people who bear scars

Lonely people dream the dream for which most just aspire
Hear within another's text the sound of angel's choir
Wait with patience to be known, to be emotionally higher
Lonely people walk each night, inter-space, frightening wire.

Lonely people will persist until all time is done
In case there's something, they have missed under the setting sun
Lonely people, lonely lives offer one by one
the sacrifice of loneliness, when friendships deep are won.

Kethry.
When dark of night steals your soul. Think of me and be made whole.

whew, Kethry this is so right on. Great poem as well. And as hard as all of those things are, I still somewhat better off than before we had this ability to connect to others in this way. What do you think? Good outweigh the bad? Lets have everyones opinion on this.

Unfortunetely where there is good there is bad...but I must say I have made some wonderful connections that would have not been possible without the internet. Excellent point, and very good poem!!!!!

The net is like life:  You get what comes down the pipe.  The difference is, in life you can't hit the Delete key...but oh I wish we could at times.  I find lonely people on the net...but I find just as many happy people.  The net satisfies man's most basic instinct:  To communicate.  And, like life, it is up to each of us to decide with whom.  If the net never existed, it is doubtful I would be having this exchange with someone in Australia...who has written a beautiful poem expressing so many feelings.  Thank you, Kethry    Hardrock
