The Shores of Alone

0 posted 2000-07-27 11:36 AM

Every day
I run to the computer,
my stomach filled
with the proverbial butterflies.

Some days
you light up the screen.
I relax momentarily.
You are still there,
my aquarian lover.
Your aura flows from the
cold glass.
Surrounds me with a touch
of passion.
I am almost happy.

Some days,
you haven't been listening.
You are busy without me.
Dissapointment fills me.
I am stuck on hold
waiting till you write.
You mean I am supposed to
have a life?
I am unsettled.
Irrational thoughts creep in,
attempt a takeover.

Some days,
I come close to pitiful,
the way I absorb your words.
I cling to them,
make love to them
every chance I get.
The computer is my lifeline now.
Our main contact
through electronic means.
Slightly absurd, isn't it?
Years ago,
in your arms for real,
we never would have known
it could come to this.
Is this the future of love?

Some days,
my ache for you
tries to take control.
I would reach through the screen-
pull you out-
devour you with kisses
and more
if only I could.

Someday,
it will be real again.
But today,
I run to my computer
for love..

Cat...
I hear you. This kind of love is all heart and soul. Your words with an on-line lover dive into the soul.
I have faith this love for you will eventualy develop into much more.

Another great poem, Darlin`

GREAT poem Cat!    Yes so many live this way.  And it makes life sometimes unbearable also.  I wish you happiness in your journey Friend.

Deep and endless night

So true in these times of bits and bytes. Got my vote!

I often wonder how many romances live and die by the computer.  I know your feelings here.  I, too, run to my computer every morning, but there is no romance to be found there.  But some darn nice friends.  Hope every thing works your way.  Exceptionally nice poem.  Hardrock  (I voted too)

How very sharp and poignant, catalinamoon, and unfortunately so true for so many.

I am stuck on hold
waiting till you write.
You mean I am supposed to
have a life?

There is a tinge of self-deprecating humor here that makes the poem all the more lonely. Very well put, all of it.

Sandra everytime you write something like this I feel like we must be sisters of sorts.  I feel so many of the same things as you do...I live for my love to talk to me on the computer as well.  And like tonight when he is not here...the demons do try to invade my mind.  Keep writing these wonderful poems.  Dee
