~THE RAIN ECHOES MY SADNESS~
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The rain performs it's melancholy song tonight
for only my heart to hear,
lightening flashes across a blackened sky,
stars fade in their glory
for, my sorrow has darkened their light and their hope,
my voices cries out in agony
singing a mournful melody
soothing and haunting like the rhythm of the rain,
violent and empty like the thunder's wrath,
alone in a sky of lost dreams and regrets,
the rain echoes my sorrow,
whilst mimicing the river of my despair,
oceans of the cloud's tears
tap in surrender against my windowpane,
it's cry of love nevermore
touches the depths of my paralyzed heart,
a slow demise from the rain's tears
and my own,
drowning inside this coccoon of endless depression

Melissa, I hope you are not as sad as this poem. Lovely words, evoking that feeling of dark lonliness. Take care.

Very nice work.  I enjoyed the imagery and I always enjoy the rain.

Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility.

What an amazing display of talent.  This poem was so beautiful.. I was envious that I hadn't written it myself.  Wow...

So glad you don't feel this way. This poem was so meaningful, mournful and haunting. One of my favourites.
