“DON’T WORRY ABOUT ME DAD”

You don’t have to worry about me anymore,
All of those wasted nights pacing the floor.
Afraid that the phone would ring,
Terrified of the news it would bring.

I wasn’t a very easy son to raise,
I gave you a run for your money on most days.
You tried with all you had to make me understand,
That the path I was taking was to a no man’s land.

Well my dearest Dad, you don’t have to worry anymore,
Sweet Jesus and his angels met me at the Door.
He held me and filled me with a love that set my heart ablaze,
And suddenly I could see the heartache and error of my ways.

I’m sorry I caused you so much anguish and pain,
And all for no reason, I had nothing to gain.

I am blessed to know you won’t have to worry anymore, I’m in good hands, you see
And on some glorious day you too will be here, celebrating  Jesus with me

Your loving son,
Tony

I am moved by the extent of the loss conveyed in the Poem. Well written and saturated with feelings...

A very moving poem. As a parent I share in that "worry". Very sad. Was well written.
