The Shores of Alone

Dedicated to Eva, my beloved Grandmother

She is old,
her frail body folding up
like a wilting flower.
Every day a new problem.
Ninety three years is a big burden
for such tiny shoulders.
No one can carry it for her.
Her pale skin,
thin as an onion
tears at will.
She bruises with a touch.
Faded eyes can no longer see
her favored television shows,
can no longer read.
Her life is not enjoyable
in the least.
It's harsh, this aging process.
Unforgiving.
It seems light years
since she was well.
She is so tired.
Late at night,
when she can't sleep,
she talks to the angels,
and asks them
when....

Sandra,
You have captured your gradmothers time of waiting. Time is not returnable, and unfortantly, Aging is the process that we all have to endure. 93 years old, I cant imgine all the history she has saw. Both World Wars, phones, radio, man on the moon, and now, these funky little computers.
Great poem.. As always..
