Darkness, My Darkness

Darkness,
my darkness,
why do you torture me?
What have I done
to deserve this agony.
What lies have I told,
what pain have I bestowed,
what hearts have I torn
and turned so cold.
Darkness,
oh darkness,
why do you torture me.

w. james beard, jr.

P.S. - if you get a chance see "Father Of The Cherokee" in "open 8", after posting, I thought maybe I should have posted it here.

Nice poem... Love poems about darkness and sadness... Maybe cuz I am that way too...
Keep up the great work!
Darkness,
oh darkness,
why do you torture me. Oh how this is the truth... Love that line! Sincerely Broken_Heart!

Once there was a darkness
Deep and endless night
You gave me everything you had
Ahhhhhh you gave me light

The dark cove of night speaks in restless tongue.  And the pain is a glorious gift to dare the winged flight of love to descend below and submerge within the darkness where the light is more brilliant than the eyes can behold.

A beautiful poem . . .thank you for sharing*

~James,...I've cried this cry for answers myself many times,...you've written so well of the times. So full of honest and heart needing questions. So well written. Take care J. *Peace.

~James~

Very concise and to the point and agonizingly said with artistic flair.  I, too, sadly relate to this poem, I have questioned this many times.  You're one of the very few poets who can write of pure pain and make it flow beautifully with your words

Take care,

James,
This poem has such depth for its length.
Thank you for writing it.
