The Temple it called to me,
Invited me inside,
I removed my shoes,
And humbly slowed my stride.

Statues and other tools of worship,
A beautiful feast for eyes and soul,
A place so welcoming,
A haven for those out of control.

The monk nodded in acknowledgement,
And left me to my private thoughts,
My thoughts and feelings turned inwards,
Was I living as I ought?

The Goddess she smiled down on me,
As though she understood my pain,
Knowing my search for peace and understanding,
Knowing my hopes of finding peace yet again.

Her prescense alone it calmed me,
I felt as though I'd at last come home,
I became the empty vessel,
Slowing filling with understanding, here I wasn't alone.

The peace of the temple enveloped me,
Here I'd found my Nirvana,
I didn't shine, I was merely humble,
Here I was simply me not wife or mother.

Here was "Middle Heaven"
As close as you can get on this earthly plain,
Here I felt only love and forgiving,
Here, an end to my pain.

I soaked these blessings up,
For a short while,
Then slowly turned and left the temple,
With hope and the faintest of smiles.

I filled my spiritual void,
For a short time at least,
I felt humble yet powerful,
My mission to love or slay the beast..

Oh yes Isis...I am taking in a deep breath with you of the loveliness and the inspiration of your spiritual adventure...Reminds me of my visits to Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris and some visits in Germany...James
