no matter what you say
this is just

oh, sure...

you think it's
cruel and unusual
for us to be separated like this
only to meet at full moons
and the rare lunar eclipse
(oh-- forgot to mention that
well we get those, too)

*chuckle*

well let me tell you
I carry enough guilt around
like a pack on my back
filled with things
I created in all their splendor
yes, Man can create!
something from nothing--
hurt and pain mostly

I am a regular rack-woman
I've doled out my share
I get my loneliness all right
but I have my peace.

there's a lot of calm
in what you're used to.

"there's alot of calm

Wow! For some reason these lines had quite an impact. This poem is stark and bare, yet eloquent in it's simplicity. Great job!

Portia...before I read Wren's response, I thought "Wow!! Those last two lines!"  He said it.  Great work.  Hardrock

Thank you, everyone. I really appreciate it when people say what they liked about something I wrote specifically (not that I'm complaining about general kudos!).
