Perpetual Memory

When my memory fails
will you sing to me
The songs in my heart
that lie silently?

And whisper with kisses
of our walks in the rain
When we splashed in the moments
of loving again.

Will you whisper your "tender"
with afternoon eyes,
And love me 'til evening
'til the dark carries sighs?

And the days become nights
within arms to be laced
When my memory fails,
will you capture it's place?

In the shadows of moonlight
when thoughts disappear
Caressing with lips,
will you kiss away fear?

In the candlelight touches
holding moments with me,
Will you share in my journey
making new "memory"?

When my memory fails
into eyes of mine, stare
All the moments of you
shall be mirrored in there.

So beautiful, I see this as the plea of a woman for her lover to be there as she ages. But it could mean so many things. Lovely.

That was very nice Maureen - I liked the poem very much. You will never forget - of that I am sure

I guess I have a different view of this.. I see this as someone whose memory has faded (because of age?) and the partner must refresh their shared moments. Good poem!

If only I could tell you how much these words mean to me....but it would seem trivial, I would suppose....
this touched me deeply, indeed!!

MMoon..I lost someone to Alzheimers...I know this feeling well.  You captured the very essence of the fear someone feels when they become aware of their plight.  Hardrock

Deepak (demoninlove)..thank you, I do have a rotten memory when it comes to song titles, and artists ..have no idea why...maybe I just believe them to not be so important as long as I remember the words and feelings to them...

Poet deVine...I think it wonderful  when  each can gain a significance out of words, for that is what should be meant..not so much my intentions..but what you  feel  from it.
thank you...and yes that is what  I worry about..although his will probably go first...memory that is.

a-alibaster...nothing you say could be trivial to me..I am a wonderful listener and if you  would like to say it in an email you are welcome to....it is always  good to know that you touched someone with words...and that they share in your feelings.

Hardrock...I am  sorry  for that loss..I have friends who have lost  their family members and neighbors who have left me here in the last so many years...it is sad and hard on everyone..I am hoping it never happens to me and that I never forget everything that has meaning to me in life..
thank you for sharing
~~softly hugging you
