Lost
In you
Your head rests heavy on my chest
Your hair slides through my fingers
Like straw spun into molten gold
Do I dare breath?

I hear your heartbeat as we lie here
Soft
Almost tangible
As if I am holding
The frail bird of your spirit
In my shaking hands

Do I dear breath?

You sit up and look at me
With eyes that hold the world

Can I keep you forever?

Oh wow, wren.  So many ways to look at this...man to woman, father to child...such emotion.  Nice one.  Hardrock

Amazing, I can place msyelf in the picture so easily. Strangely enough, this brought me right back to a time with a certain man, someone I don't even think of very often anymore. The words have a power of their own. I admire your writing, you can always feel the love in it.

I would have voted for this one! Just beautifully describing feelings, and I could picture the whole thing in my mind. Excellent job!!!

Lovely Wren...particularly enjoyed "The frail bird of your spirit".

Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility.

beautiful wren.

why must we pray
screaming? why must not death be redefined? we shut our eyes we stretch out our arms and whirl on a pane of glass-patti smith
