With the next gasp of delicate air
That we fight for with each passing breath
We steal what remains of our share
As we bring ourselves closer to death

And the loves that we've wondered away
Caress shadows of sound and of light
As we ask what there is left to say
In the vast open fields of the night

In the shadows of summers now past
And the sepia stained walls of our youth
We hunt and we search to the last
For the mis-shapen seeds of the truth

you write of the mystery that inspires us to write
and what you say causes much delight
even though it comes from the dark cold nite

Yes, this is really good. And I agree with Tara about the line:

Imagine my surprise when I found that this piece had been dragged out and dusted off!
It's a good thing too. Re-reading it has reminded me to not give up. I will not wonder away this love.
Thank you all.
