The Supermart

Life is just a supermart,
Where we get the things we need.
We push our cart along life’s aisles,
It’s time that sets the speed.

We pick from the necessities,
And a find a treat or two.
And hope we find a bargain,
Before our bill is due.

We look at all that’s offered,
Some even make a list.
Then circle back to look some more,
For something that was missed.

We make our choices wisely,
Or so we like to think.
But when we hit the checkout,
Our hearts begin to sink.

We’ve filled our carts with heartache,
Bought junkfood for our life.
We could have chosen happiness,
Instead, we’ve chosen strife.

So make your choices wisely,
Before you pay the toll.
Fill your cart with love and joy,
And good things for your soul.

What a relief after the last one!
A lovely poem, Marvin, with some very wise advice.
Brilliant, like all of yours!

This is a wonderful way to express exactly how we "collect" things along the way in life. Another remarkable job here, Get ready Hardrock, we's going shopping and Im throwing all the happiness I can find in your cart!!! Look out though I always get the one with the bumpy wheel.....Love Ya

Great poem, Hardrock. One questions...why does the junk food taste so much better, but it makes us sick??
Loved the analogy.

Good One! So very true. The high point of a shopping spree is usually the placing of items in the cart...
Great references! Take care.

Dear Hardrock
This was another poem inviting praise.

We’ve filled our carts with heartache,
Bought junkfood for our life.
We could have chosen happiness,
Instead, we’ve chosen strife.
So right you are and you know - and I know that we would do just that again and again if ever born again!

Hey Marvin!.."ain't" it the truth.  The choices we make are sometimes unbelievable.
Excellent as usual.

Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility.

LOL Hardrock....as a professional Checker/mngmt. I had a nice chuckle with this one.  As it is said before the soul lives on this earth we make a list (a wish list) to choose from.  The wise shopper sticks to that list, and the others... well they get the over priced junk food!   Very nice indeed!   T.
