I hide in the dark and wait for the spark
of passion to make my heart soar
I try to amuse, and my friends abuse;
In the daylight I feel like a whore
In abject defeat, I fall at your feet
and my mirrored self I abhor
While smiling the smile, I bide time knowing I'll
give  buried emotions no door.

My self loathing fear, is someone will hear
The cry of my heart deep inside
my façade gone away, shattered today
and I will have nowhere to hide
So I shun my friend's hands and make no demands;
My broken-ness, hid by steel pride
How I long for the day when the stone melts away
but my frightened denial gives no guide.

I cannot give in to the demon within
Yet still I fight, can't you see
this nightmare can't end unless you my friend
can see though the mask to the me.
Help me I pray, I wait for the day
When your power of grace sets me free.
Then I can become, a person, someone
who says I am so glad to be.

kethry.
When dark of night takes your soul
Think of me and be made whole.

Wow. This is an excellent poem. Feelings of insecurity so well expressed. The facades we build to hide our pain ... Very well done.
I hope you are OK, though??!!
