Caught sleeping awake,
A nightmare haunts me,
A scream of terror I let you in silence,
No one hears me but my own self.
Sweat on my brows,
As I reach for the lamp
I realize I am not home,
I look around foolishly,
Trying to find some light,
But darkness embraces me with its kiss,
I jump in terror,
Breathing heavily,
Beating of my heart can be heard a thousand miles away,
I go insane trying to find the end to this road,
Forever it seems as I run around in circles,
Trying to wake up from this nightmare
I been trapped by my own thoughts,
Squeezing my last drop of sanity I anguish in pain,
Help me if you hear me,
Help me someone,
Free me of this nightmare that haunts me even in the day.

Sounds tortureous.
Makes for good poems though.

Yes, this does make a very effective poem. The situation you describe sounds absolutely horrific. Are you talking about yourself? I do hope not!!!!!!
