The Shores of Alone

0 posted 2000-07-15 11:53 PM

I attempt to survive without love.
The lack of sustenance takes a toll.
I waste away.
I grow weary of begging for a meal.
I subsist on the barest crumbs
which you drop in my path,
as you casually pass by.
I devour them hungrily, yet still
I starve.

You just successfully defined the "True Lover" - what a hopeless class of beings we are!

I like this metaphorical poem very much...if I could only count the number of times I have felt this way.  Good poem

It is amazing though how long just a few crumbs can keep you going!

God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can, and the wisdom to know it's me. ~Unknown

This is extraordinary! I am impressed! It reminds me of the French saying "To live on love and fresh air".

Rex and Uta said it so well...even a crumb now and then may be enough to sustain you....but it will never satisfy the hunger within.  Good stuff, Cat.  Hardrock

It's like you are in love and the other person is just stringing you along,  Did I get it right?  Let me know.  Dee
