Two Feet From death Again

In tunnels they placed a snake
that most called two step.
When you crawled in to the tunnels
to find Charlie, once bitten an eternity you slept.

My daughter and I had to make a left turn today,
my hand went out with a slow down motion sign.
And my left turn signal was on
with a flash that this turn was mine.

It hasn’t been that long that
I had met death’s door.
Staring me in the face
here again once more.

(Reference to the poem “Five Feet From Death Today”)

The big yellow truck carrying cement containers
never saw my signal, and not going slow.
He hit the breaks and I looked up,
knowing he had no where to go.

On-coming traffic facing me I shouted hold on,
I push my little car into on-coming cars taking a chance.
Forcing some over and giving the truck
enough room to just squeeze by with a fence he danced.

But he made it past me. with about two steps to spare.
Shaking (again) and looking over to my daughter,
she sat with a calmness I wish I had,
now knowing he was a little smarter.

we fixed the fence together
and I asked him if he was ok,
and went on our way.

Joel.
----------------------------------------------------

Yes it seems I’ve had a narrow miss once again, the truck driver was driving in  a daze, he said my signal wasn’t working, so I had to show him that it was!
no one was hurt, but it came close, and this time my daughter was with me.
For information the cement truck was carrying the big blocks of containers that you put into the ground, it shifted on his truck all the way over to the right balancing mysteriously, we both fixed the fence, shook hands and went on our way.
It was close again.
Damn.

Joel.

Oh Joel, what a slow motion moment, when you see it coming, and brace for the inevitable. So glad it had a happy ending. And very happy to see you back here again. I was thinking you might be just a little too happy for poetry right now..

Across the gateway of my heart,
I wrote "No Thoroughfare!!"
But love came laughing by and
Cried "I enter everywhere!!!"

Yes it was Sandra, a slow motion crash. It was close again.
And yes I'm very happy, planing for the wedding, I'm taking White Dove up to Sparks, Reno, this August to the "Hot August nights"
We will hitch up then some time within 5 days at the show. I'm setting up a booth in Sparks. so work and play. haha
I'm trying my best to make it back in here when ever I can, so bear with me will ya??
Love ya.
Joel.

Thanks Deb., yes it was a happy ending.

Yes Kynder it is this light, I'm so happy, things are going good.
White Dove has made her commitment to me, and like I had said all along, when she did that it would be forever. I do love her so.
Thanks kid. haha
