The house was full of
people today.
Faces--young and old,
   true and false--
they almost drown me with
   their chilling
   untruthfulness.

It's just another party.

And I see you there, Mom,
   in black, contrivingly smiling,
   the tentative queen of triviality.
And where are you, Dad?
   I can't see you, but
   I can smell your musk
   mixing with Chivas
And that familiar
   stink of tiredness.

And where am I?
Lost again, buried again, forgotten again.
I am not your commodity, Dad!
I am your son.
I am not an orphan, Mom!

Don't treat me like one.

Excellent writing, I see the false pretenses all around you, vivid image, of a "masquerade"...sad, very sad..

Excellent description of that feeling. It's hard to be living in a home where you feel ignored, and misunderstood. Have been there too.
Take care
