I left the room early
to gather some air
and get some space
between me
and the gossip clouds
She came to me
as I looked in admiration
at the kingdoms
of dry forest and red clay
She said, "You're so
adventurous and excited-
it's a beautiful thing really.
You've got time though,
you're life isn't going
anywhere anytime soon",
I laughed a little
somewhat micheviously
and with bright eyes I said,
"that's exactly what I want
to change."
It reminded me
so much of your beauty,
The desert heat
much like your intensity
Thirsty and uncharted,
an echo of your being
Maybe that's why
I crave to be lost,
out exploring in the canyons
Maybe that's why
the desert
has stolen my heart

Note: Just so you know...the woman that I had been talking to is not the same person that I refered to as "you"...wouldn't want any confusion.

Very nice...I miss the "coffee pot" and Talaquepaque.  Do another.

Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility.

Yeah...I miss it too...especially the hiking through the grand canyon and Tlaquapaque. There's a lot of art and culture in that town...gotta love it.

Thanks for your time.

The title caught me...almost as if I had been there before.  Must be dejuvu all over again. Wasn't it wonderful that Rex could identify so well with the place? Beautiful imagery.  Hardrock

This poem is sublime indeed! Your description is hot! (Scuse the pun   ) This line:
Maybe that's why
I crave to be lost,
is just so excellent. Craving to be lost ... Wow!
I even got that the you and the person you are talking to are different people!
Is this where you spent your holiday?
