Anticipating, hopeful, she pulls out her dusty dreams, brushes them off and goes to work. She digs deep in the closet. There must be some black lace in there somewhere. Silently, she evaluates. Is she good enough, pretty enough? Will he still want her? It's been so long, yet all the yesterdays pale in the moment. She decorates her face a little.. It can't hurt to enhance what little she has left.. She curls her hair, annoints with sweet perfume just the way he always liked it. Smoking candles have been unlit for an eternity. Can they still burn? Heart pounding, she seeks relief. Opens a bottle of champagne, drinking away her fear. The bubbles are oddly comforting. The preperation complete, she waits... |

Cat, your poems are always so "real". When I read them I always have the images in my head, like a film. I hope yopu don't really see yourself as this person, "trying to decorate what little she has left". I'm sure you are just as beautiful as you always have been!
