I would rather have your
Thoughts from afar,
Than take solace
With an empty shell
And have
My soul
Eaten
away.

i don't remember who said it but there are five ways to avoid harm. a mirror, a shield, a promise, a great distance and a kind word are five ways to avoid harm. well it goes something like that. i do love this little piece yet small but packed with a inter meaning just love it.

Nancee, This is simply brilliant. I especially like the idea of having the soul eaten away. To me this poem is about someone who has had too many bad relationships and now prefers to love from afar than to realise that the object of their desire is just another greedy emotional vampire.

Police Training 101:  Your chances for survival in any encounter are directly proportional to the distance you put between you and your assailant.  Excellent piece, Nancee.   Hardrock
