The Shores of Alone

0 posted 2000-07-03 04:07 PM

I've come to hate the holidays,
blasphemous, I know.
Too hard to be happy
when you have nowhere to go.

I thought about it yesterday,
I think there was just one.
A Christmas Eve eight years ago,
when I truly felt some love.

One Thanksgiving back in eighty-nine,
I had a moment then.
We cooked the turkey, drank champagne,
too bad it had to end.

New Years Eve is just the worst,
although I can count two,
in all the years that pass me by
that weren't completely blue.

July the fourth, the loudest day,
the hardest to ignore.
The revelry of all of them
goes on outside my door.

Halloween not quite so bad,
it's theme reflects my mood.
The journey to the darker side
gives me a chance to brood.

Let's not forget the birthdays,
the holidays for one.
Alone or not, it's just too much,
the effort to have fun.

The phoniness is rampant
as they wish you all the best.
A casual hug, a "happy day",
no different from the rest.

Yes, holidays depress me.
They point out all I lack.
No life, no love, no money tree,
sometimes I think I'll
crack.......

Oh my!! Okay I understand what you are saying here, I really do!!!  But try not to let the holidays make you see the things you DONT have but yet the small things you are greatly for.  I know it is difficult to do, but it CAN be done!!
Nice poem too!

Peace

Once there was a darkness
Deep and endless night
You gave me everything you had
Ahhhhhh you gave me light

A poignant statement indeed.  Sorry you are apparently so low. A well done poem however.
If you need a friend, we are all here.

God how well I know this point also kid.
I spend them alone to, with my bird.
God.

Joel.

I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel.
