She hates herself, along with others
who don't bother to look, or even ask why
she cries when she sees them hugging their mothers
they don't acknowledge, say hello, or goodbye

She tries to keep her chin up, but it is weighed
by the page of the book she leaves open for all
but no one will read, and to her dismay
no one bothers to peek over the top of her wall

She listens like an expert, but nobody hears
her sighs and screams, they have all become deaf
from blocking out what may cause them trouble for years
and commit the most horrible crime, but no theft

She weeps at her reflection in the mirror today
What should I do? Does anyone care?
'Tis better to recieve than give, they say
so they just walk by and try not to stare

"Suicides have already betrayed the body.
Still born, they don't always die,
bu dazzled, they can't forget a drug so sweet
that even children would

Very sad, and so often true in this world. No one reading the open book, very powerful imagery.

Chibi...God forgive me should I ever become so engrossed in my own problems that I couldn't take the time to help someone else.  Very well written...very thought provoking.  Hardrock

Wow Chibi, this one hit me! What a view of society!

She shouldn't hate herself.  She should value herself.  Seems to me it is the other's mistakes and they are the ones who are losing out.
Too many people today don't think how accusations, anger, jealousy or whatever can hurt others.  They don't think of the ramifications of their actions, they do what they want and be blowed!!  They are wrong, and they are losing out.  They will receive their just deserts one day, maybe years from now but it will come.
All we can do, is be true and honest to ourselves and make the positives our life statements not the negatives.
Karma exists and is alive and well and I have seen both negative and positive karma come back on people eventually.  I have witnessed it with my own two eyes.
So 'she' should be true to herself and the true path and 'hope' that brighter things will soon come her way.
Also an empty hug is as good as no hug at all.
Great piece here, great topic, could raise many discussion points, just look at gossipy old me!!  LOL

I'll tell you this...... No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn.....

I am glad to see that some people can identify with and/or understand this poem. I have been feeling very, very bad lately, and it has made me realize I wouldn't have done some things I did of someone reached out their hand; and in repurcussion, I will be on the lookout for someone who needs a hand to hold,

they can hold mine.

Yes so many have this open book for all to read, and we just pass by,
to stop is good if just to read a heading.
Joel.

I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel.
