In breathing there, you cultivate
a fatal touch, a numb embrace
you never breathe, you never wait
for them or me, or anyplace.

You lie and watch, they come and go
still and quiet, the air is dead
when you say stop, the wind doesn't blow
tell me, tell me, which fire is fed?

lying still, lying tongue
that speaks, and everything is won
the palace you have built of the dead,
tell me, tell me what you said
