The Shores of Alone

Betrayal still surprises me,
I just expect the best.
It's not that I'm so stupid,
but it never takes a rest.

Will I ever learn
not to trust a man?
Don't want to live like that,
but I suppose I can.

To those who let me down,
let me ask you this...
How much more did you want?
Not even a goodbye kiss.

Over all of these years
I gave you nothing but love.
You just threw it in my face.
Do you think you're God above?

I had a choice to make.
Who was better for me.
You wrapped it up neatly,
and now I can see.

You never did change,
though I imagined you had
Once I so loved you,
but you're nothing but BAD!
