In these mountains
able to hide,
feelings of despair
a tune of a lullaby.

Will you love me
come tomorrow?
Will you love me
even in your sorrow?

This vast big land
of gum trees and pines,
would we live happily
if given some time?

The ghosts of past
I'm sure they will ebb,
lay down to rest
in their own bitter bed.

But what come may
in ten years together,
I'm sure we'll be happy
and drift in love forever.

I read this as a lover having self doubt about the future of the relationship....and then shutting out the possibility that it might not last.  A denial.  Nice work Tara....enjoyed it.  Hardrock

A delightful poem Tara, so melodic, the images, the words ... I agree with Hardrock about the theme.

"For God's sake, he's a poet. Poets are meant to feel miserable. Otherwise, what the hell are they here for? What are they going to write about?"

beautifully written Tara.
