               I offer no apologies
            For the bitterness of words
                This book contains;
            Should other eyes than mine,
               In leisure moments scan
                Its scattered lines,
          I can but say: therein you found
         The remnants of a gentleman's heart;
        A heart that could not, in blindness,
             See the fallacies of Faith,
             Or know the fleet fragility
                  Of spent desire.
       A foolish heart, that dreamed a while
           In the elusive chimera of Hope
            And gave itself...forever...
         Into hands that crushed to shreds
            Its frailty, and swept them,
                     Unheeding,
               To the restless winds.

could have,
might have,
and should have.

This was a good one!  I like your extended metaphor of a book.  Good work

We are the hollow men
We are the stuffed men
Leaning together
Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
Our dried voices, when
We whisper together
Are

* sniff * such eloquent language, such imagery. You are a really talented poet!

"For God's sake, he's a poet. Poets are meant to feel miserable. Otherwise, what the hell are they here for? What are they going to write about?"
