I entered his life many years ago
He held me so gentle and kind
Looking into his eyes I saw the love
No other man could I find

I spent all my time with this man
Laughing and talking by the lake
He knew everything about me
While with him I never had to be fake

He encouraged me to be the best
No matter how high the hurdles I found
To never let sarcasm get me sad
To only listen to my heart's sound

Then one day he stood up
And told me of his plans to leave
I did nothing but sit and cry
For all this I could not believe

I'll never forget the day he walked out
For my happiness had turned so sad
The thought and the memories
The day I said "Good-Bye Dad!'

Once there was a darkness
Deep and endless night
You gave me everything you had
Ahhhhhh you gave me light

Wow! What a beautiful poem. Is it about you? Don't you see your dad anymore? I wish I could write a poem like that about my dad, but he was never particularly nice, and he never said goodbye either!

Yes this is about me and my Dad.  He left a few years ago wanting to start a new life with his Mistress (now his wife).  At the time he left behind his wife, kids and grandkids.  I ust figure someday he will be sorry.

Peace

DkW...It's especially difficult when someone does something we don't understand.  Circumstance is everything.  But I'm sure he still loves you.....his life just took a different direction.  You expressed it well....nicely done.  Hardrock

My dad did the same thing. Except he hasn't got any grandchildren (yet). He even got another kid of his own when he was 66. I'm sorry to warble on like this, but I just thought you'd like to know that I uderstand how you feel.
