Mother's Tears

She cries to me for answers,
her tainted tears seeping their way through the wires,
dripping themselves through the receiver,
down the length of my arm.
As I stand by the back door watching the sun set over the bay.
Listening to her fears and her needs.
Eyes seeing such beauty, while ears hear such pain.
She's crumbling this very moment,
she's taking all she has left and throwing it to the birds.
The pinks in the sky amaze the eyes.
Which start to run with their own tears,
and the beauty begins to blur.
I don't have her answers, I don't have the strength.
She needs an escape, but I'm not sure of the route.
I'm not mentally capable to take this on right now.
I've been through the wars too many times with this.
I've seen much evil,...much pain.
This heart of mine needs to run with the winds.
The winds that carry me to the sunsets' peak.
Where pain and tears are dry and gone.
I wish things were easier for her,
I wish better choices were made along her way.
I wish I had the answers to calm her fears,...her tears.

The faucet drips

The faucet drips and drips
The little insect takes sips
You want to wash your hands
The insect try's to fly but quickly lands

You turn the tap on cold
The water bends the wings in a fold
Now insect can never fly
The bottomless drain circles by

Being pulled in
No matter how hard insect swims
You see insect struggle
At first you start to chuckle

Realizing it's a struggle for life
Maybe insect has a family and wife
Quickly you plug the drain
And wished that it was that easy for your pain

Insect 's instinct becomes his thing
Jumps on your hand and stings
It hurts and you want it to stop
It hurts and you want it to stop

Why did I get stung that way
Realizing it must be insects' way
The pain still hurts the next day
As you carry on in your own way

SF,

You have done all you can my friend.  This was so haunting in a way.  We all must like with the choices we make.  Keep wishing though.  Just may come true one day.  Take care and HUGS to you.

LW

This is really amazing. I have felt the exact same thing for my mother so many times. The stifling impotence. The feeling that you want to help, but just the thought of it freaks you out. I guess it's just too difficult to deal with problems that are so close to home. Thanks for writing this!

There is nothing worse than wanting to take away someones pain, and I know there have been times it could suck the life right out of you because of the emotional intensity. I can feel for you, I loved the poem, just wish there didn't have to be so much sadness...

SpitFire....I have been back to this poem several times.  I guess because it hit so close to home.  Not only did I have my Mom calling, but my Dad as well (they lived apart).  And like you, I stood and looked out at the sunset.....knowing there was nothing I could do.....and felt guilty for not wanting to.  It was then that I decided, "Never visit your children except in joy".  Exceptionally good piece here.....Hardrock

Hi, I'n not sure, but were you referring to your daughter, or yourself from your Mom's eyes? Either way it was awesome. But I just had to tell you, I could have written that for my daughter. And I am at the end of my knowing what to do to help her. Its tragic and horrible and if you have any advice, I would sure love it.

SpitFire,

What a heart felt poem.

The pure essence of mothers tears are sad to see. The way you describe the pain is very good.
Nice Work

*Insect, Thank you lots for the poem reply,...I have to say, I love that, and am actually quite glad to be "stung" by you. Thanks.
*LW, Thanks for the hugs...and the reply. I know, I know. *sigh*. Thank you much.
*Jeremiah, Haha,...use your Toe. hahaha...Thank you so much.
*Lotharingia, It's an awful feeling huh?  Gosh, I do hope things are better for you now. Thanks for reading.
*Deborah1, What you said in your reply is SO exact. Thanks for taking the time.
*Hardrock, I'm sorry for you then if this hit so close to home,..it's an awful feeling. The quote you  wrote there,...has me thinking....I am glad that she has someone to turn to but I am not sure that I can do it anymore...or atleast how much help I can offer.  *Sigh*.  Thanks for reading.
*Catalinamoon,  I wrote this from me about my mother.  She's the one calling me. I am sad to hear that your daughter is feeling like my mother in ways....at the end of her rope so to speak. It's frightening and right now I am at a stand still as far as knowing what to do.  If you'd like to talk though about your daughter feel free to email me,...I can see if I have any ideas. Seriously. Thank you for reading.
*Larbear, Oh, they are the worst to see....and gosh have I seen my share. Thank you for reading. Take care.

~*Peace.
