So what do you think the meaning of this is.....

I granted you your three wishes,
I gave you what you asked for.
But you’re like all the rest,
Tho I did my best,
It wasn’t enough, you want more.

You’re just like the ones before you,
Who found and rubbed the lamp.
You pout out your lips,
Stick out your hips,
And with your foot, you stamp.

Be grateful for all that I give you,
In return I ask nothing from thee.
Use me, abuse me,
Punch and contuse me,
Then throw me back into the sea.

There’s a rule among all us genies,
Tho you may be most unsatisfied.
You can have all your wishes,
The lamp and it’s dishes,
But you can never have the genie inside.

Oh I loved it so much, I can't believe how talented everybody is, so many poems here everyday, your poem reminded me of when I was a little girl I use to pray to god for one thing and if he have it to me I would never want anything else, I got my wish from god, so thanks for reminding me of the deal I made with him.

poems like this are what i strive for.  so why did God make genies?  who will love them in the end, when their wishes have run out, and the lamp has been rubbed thin?  can one of my wishes be i get three more to start over again, therefore keeping the genie as mine forevermore???  see, you make me think too, my friend.

Across the gateway of my heart,
I wrote "No Thoroughfare!!"
But love came laughing by and
Cried "I enter everywhere!!!"

Hadrock, the genie needs love just like everyone else. Thats what I get from the poem, someone tired of being used and never receiving only giving. Geat work

Hmmmmmm what I get from this poem.  I read it as some people just want more and more.  That the material things come first with them.  They never look any deeper into a person's soul for the material's of life.  I guess we all read into things how we want to read into them.
GREAT poem BTW!!

Peace

Once there was a darkness
Deep and endless night
You gave me everything you had
Ahhhhhh you gave me light

Great Poem!

My 1st wish was always to be
able to hug the Genie!

Sounds like a man who makes a committment, either marriage or a relationship, gives his lady whatever she asks for, but cannot give her his heart....

Could it possibly be as simple as;
Tis better to give than to receive.
The Genie retains his pride while the wishers lose his respect.
