The Shores of Alone

Well, here it is, a poem with no redeeming value. But it just had to come out, bear with me...

I know I can't have him,
not the way that I want.
I know I can't love him,
not as much as I want.
I know he will never be mine,
no matter how much I want.
I know he will stay with her,
no matter what I want.
I know when I'm with him,
I have just what I want.
I know that the distance
is much greater than I want.
I know, I know, I KNOW,
I beat my head against the wall
with the knowing.
And stll
I want....

Across the gateway of my heart,

Cried "I enter everywhere!!!"

I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel.

"When you know you can't have what you want, where's the profit in wishing?" - Stephen Sondheim.

A poem with no redeeming value? Is there such a thing? It looks like this one touched a few people, me included, so it's got some value. Keep letting them out.
