I stand here crying
on this side of the door
Your footsteps echoes fading
on that side of the door

Three inches of pine is all
that separates me from you
A wooden door and miles of pain
from a heart torn in two

Once more I am all alone
on this side of the door
As I lock it one last time
to unlock it nevermore.

That gave me a chill, so strong was the image of the door never to be unlocked again. I have been there many times, it is a sad place..

very well written...

God we are on the same wave link. God.
I have a poem I've been working on for the last two weeks involving a door, I'll post it soon. I believe a door to us is so important, going in and out, locking, allowing them to enter, and keeping them out.
great poem. I could go on and on.

Ooh Poet de Vine - so final... gave me goosebumps.  Yes, spine-chilling stuff. *sigh* Hmm... very thought-provoking.  I liked this poem very much

I sensed a very strong message with this, and know that feeling all too well. Absolutely wonderful verse

What a sad, despairing poem. I've been there, too. But I unlocked the door again afterwards quite a few times!   Was worth it, too ...

'Tis the moment that matters - and all is fair in love and war - doors can be opened again!
You expressed that "moment" wonderfully!
