Wherever

Poems on napkins
verse on my shirttail
flattened paper cups
the back of unopened mail
killer stuff in the palm of my hand
grab a stick and write it in the sand
pull out the clippers
and shave it on the dog
get that flashlight
and trace it in the fog
put it down somewhere
even if the hour`s late
hehe, i wrote this on a paper plate.

Someone did a poem almost exactly like this about a month ago, on what we write on.
I loved poetry so much as I drove truck I'd try to write,, ahhaha not good I know, so I picked up a small hand held recorder, it's great.
love the idea of this poem, thanks kid.

Oh yes, thats just how it is for me too. Jump up in the middle of the night to write a thought down, looking for a scrap, looking for a pen.
Very enjoyable..

Isn't it wonderful how beautiful phrases just pop into your head and you wirte them somewhere until you find a way to use them. i always think of awesome things and then forget to write them down....that's why my poetry is so bad. lol. oh well. But this was quite wonderful. i really liked it,esp. tracing it in the fog. that's very.....dreamy. lol

Nameless One....I had to laugh.  It's me, it's me.  I have sticky notes, receipts, the bathroom wall (hey, it's my house), and like Joel, a tape recorder I carry with me at all times.....plus my answering machine, voice mail, magazines.  I've written on just about everything....especially bar napkins in my younger days.  I've given away as much poetry as I've ever published.  Great work that speaks to us all here.   Hardrock

This made me chuckle. I love the last line. I wish I had that kind of abandon but I'm pretty retentive about my writing. I found this very refreshing.
