Just want to thank everyone for making me feel welcome. I have not read everyone's work yet, but look forward to it. This looks like a very inspirational and comforting place to be.

Love the name! Normally only poetry is posted here, but you know what? If you want to have a home, sometimes you need to bend a rule. I think it would be great if everyone replied to this and explained where they got their username!!!

Hardrock is a play on my last name...Hardin....but it also describes one of my musical tastes.  The one thing that has helped me bridge the generation gap, communicate with my kids and make me an effective counselor is that I always moved with the music....I never locked myself into a genre like so many of my peers.  I go from Hendrix to AC/DC...from Eric Clapton to Matchbox 20...from The Platters to Dr. Dre......Hardrock: a name, a music...and sometimes, a heart.

Alrighty then..... hmmmmm my user name.  Dark_Kisses_within came about quite awhile back.  The Dark of course is because my poetry was once very dark and deadly to me.  And believe it or not... because of my dark poetry I scared a few boyfriends away!  So Dark_kisses_withing is like a vampire bite without the "blood!"  LOL
Okay so now you know  (blushing)

Peace

Hey great idea

My user name is kinda boring - its just a shortened version of my name: Sylvia Greybe but I like using it on the net as it shows its diversity (Sylvia is Scottish and Greybe is South African) as my mom is Scottish and my dad a trueborn South African like me!

I hope lots of our dark buddies reply to this one as I'd like to see more name explanations!

Cheers
Sylvia

Well Joel the wolf started a long time ago, living out near the woods that I love, really not many wolves here.
Anyway, It's a duel personality,
Joel is in the bible seeing visions, reading dreams, the wolf is the beast that mates usually once, but it's the howling that I love the singing of nature, not of loneliness, but because he has known love and it's depth.

Joel.

I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel.

It was my parents choice and they refused to change their minds but I have had many nick names all of which are stupid and embrassing.
The latest one is "lost boy" I got it on the first week of college, when I was trying to find some people I had met earlier that day in the canteen at lunch time and I was told I looked like a lost boy.  Well that kind of explains my e-mail address. But nobody calls me lost boy anymore cos they found out that I am not quite as innocent as they first thought.

OK, OK, Chibi's turn to tell the story of her name :P
"Chibi" is a Japanese word/term used in Anime (Japanese Animation) meaning Little or Small. Deathscythe is a mobile suit (Kind of like a transformer, except....it doesn't transform....) came from the Anime "Gundam Wing". Hence "ChibiDeathscythe". But Chibi had a dual meaning, because I'm a short little girly......... -_-;;; ahh well...so now you know!

Oh, and welcome catalinamoon ^_^

Oh, cool.  I loved hearing about where you all got your names.  Catalinamoon is lovely.  I'm starting now to wish I had a more exciting name or just change it.  I just put down Joy, my mid. name and 14 'cause that was how old I was at the time.  Now I'm 15, so go figure.  But at least I'm pretty much known as just Joy here.  Gotta stop rambling now.

Bye,
Joy

CatalinaMoon sounds so exotic and beautiful to me too, I loved it the moment I saw it.
Mine is simple ISIS.  Wanting to have a name that showed learning and love etc, Isis was perfect for me.  Boring story though

Very classy name I must say!    My name originated from a song called "Thunderkiss '65" which I've always liked. Once, telling a close female friend of mine the name of the song after we listened to it, she commented that she can see why I would like the song because the name fits how she envisions me.  Thunder as like the "tough guy" type thing (her words, not mine :P )...  (I'm 6'5, 240lbs lol) and Kiss because I am still soft and gentle inside, contrary to what she thought when she first meet me aparently because I dont look like a "softy".  The CaSe-SwItChInG and y instead of an i to be different.  Anyways, more sentimental value to me I guess... but thats why I use it.  I know, silly. :P lol

Umm, alright...

My name's kinda stupid, it really means nothing...but then its a blank canvas for me to paint a personallity to, and for that, its the best name i could choose.

Hi,

A lovely name you have, I repeat, although practically everyone has already said so  .
My name has a stupis story behind it. My middle name is Lorraine, which my mum called me because she's from the Saarland, which is on the German side of Alsace Lorraine, and these regions have often changed sides between the Germans and the French. I wasn't too keen on Lorraine, so I took the German name for Lorraine, "Lotharingia" for my pen name, firstly 'cos I like the ring to it, and secondly, because as yet I haven't found anyone else who has that name.

Hi, I wondered if anybody ever wondered why I call myself luckyinlove after reading my poems, the whole meaning behind it is positive thinking.. you see I was unlucky and thats all behind me, I am now LuckyinLove and I will meet the man of my dreams and live happily ever after, I think you had a great idea with this, thanks it was good to find out about everybody else too.

Sounds almost as nice as Carolina Moon...lol

Mine was given to me by a lady who thought that since I was a firefighter and a long suffering chap as well that it was a nice fit. It works for me. Face to Face, everyone calls me Jamie...Nice to meet everyone here also...There is some really good stuff here.

it's amazing to find out how people chose their names.  Mine is as stupid and dumb as they get.  Let me tell the story first on why i'm here.  I got played by the only girl i've ever open up to.  The only girl i've ever said "I Love You" to.  20+ years and you finally open up and just get played.  A firend of mine knows i write a lot of poems and she told me about this place and she thought it might help.  Well ACIRE is spelled ERICA backwards.  The love of my life.

Told you it's stupid and dumb

Well...hmmmm,let me see...

Lots of interesting names
and reasons for names here.

Some of you fellow poets
sound so cute and funny....
Not
dumb
or
boring.

As for my name...I like
Magnolia's
and I sorta used to write only
sad poetry...
I see the sadness in others
and am able to write about it...
sometimes even better than my
own happiness.

Now THAT sounds really dumb.LOL

well my name is Lisa, and one of my friends just started calling me Li-Li, sometime last sememster. about a month or so ago, my friend Jay,  was talking about some of the names of some of the best dj's at raves, and started giving everyone some kind of dj name. I forgot what the first one he gave me was, and so when i found 'netpoets' i just kinda put the two together and liked what i came up with.
