Annie Lennox sings
from a stereo nearby,
and you just sit there, brooding--
staring at the horizon.

Then the evening comes with its
soothing cloak,
but your face--pale,
curiously fair,
devoid of any emotion--
stay motionless, save for
the occasional blink.

And your eyes speak of weariness
   and unpleasant reverie.

"There's nothing worse in life than being
   ordinary," you've been told
and you almost believed it.
People think you're weird
and you almost believed them,
too.

But you're not..
You're strong,
   empathic,
   sublimingly humane.
You understand people better
   than they will ever
   understand you.

And though achingly rare,
your beauty is never caused.
It just is--intrinsic,
Never borrowed.

Born before her time perhaps - or something different?  A very deep moving poem.  I liked it very much

You understand people better
   than they will ever
   understand you.

This statement is very true for a lot of people.  In fact most.

A poem about loving someone for who they are

A beautiful and sad all in one poem, it says so much of the human hidden beauty and misunderstandings, and acceptance as is, I've told my love I except her as is with no changes, this says something along that line.
anyway I just had to stop and read.

I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel.

The opening line caught my eye, but the rest of the poem spoke to me all the more. Somethings we already know, but it's nice to hear them again.

I really liked this. Excellent. i especially liked the line
"There's nothing worse in life than being
   ordinary," you've been told
and you almost believed it.
People think you're weird
and you almost believed them,
too.

that's a good statement!!
