I saw God in a hand basket
I swear I did
he was looking at me
and saying hey kid.

Not like some who
see him in a tree
If they did he
I’m sure he looked just like me.

Or in a potato chip
along with Elvis my God
they just think they saw him
even if they all applaud.

Or his mother Mary
in the shad of an old building
I don’t think so
that just doesn’t seem filling.

No I see God in everything
that there is,
no little deities
just to fizz.

But in every breath
every breath I breath
in every spiders web
in every web that’s weave.

It’s the icon in God I attack
not my faith in God I lack
for you see I’m one that believes
in the creator of all things.

Not that God is a he or she
But I’d much rather embrace
a woman omnipotent deity
than a man that looks like me.

Joel.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I seem to always refer to God as a she just to mess with minds and icons of God.
I’ve done it so long I don’t relies when I do it. Long ago teaching from my shaman tutor. She destroyed my Southern idea of God long ago, and showed me the light. of all things.  Now I search the light within.
Joel.

I love the concept of God in a handbasket. It throws the mind a little. You have to think about it; people see "hell" there in that phrase. You have shown something many should see: that deity exists every day, in everything.

and She loves you for it...

Joel....I thoroughly enjoyed it....I'm still sitting her smiling.  The line about Elvis.....that is SO true.  (Sorry, I can't seem to get this silly grin off my face).  Do it again....more.   Hardrock
